I Fly

Grass wet with the dew
Under our feet
A crescent moon shines
A satellite flies
Trailing star dust
Just like you do

You come into view
Sunlit silhouette
My heart races
Your extant graces
Lift me moonset
Out through the blue

And not whirligigs or thistle fluff,
Fireflies or ladybugs
Got a thing on me:
When I'm with you
I fly.

I see your face
Your fine mouth grinning
Your affable guise
Of mellifluous eyes
Send me spinning
Up into space

And not helicopters or zeppelins,
Space shuttles or biplane rigs
Got a thing on me:
When I'm with you
I fly.

You're in all my dreams
Bewitching my sleep
I pray that it might
Last more than the night
I'm in too deep
They're only dreams

And all the flying fish and pegasi
Bats, gargoyles and dragonflies
They just pass me by.
If you were here
I'd fly.
